In addition to the written examination, you’ll also be required to take a separate road sign test to gauge your recognition and knowledge of standard street signs, which may contain this information as well. Chapter 3 - Pavement Markings, Traffic Signs, Lights & Signals. This practice test will focus on the signs and road situations information covered in chapters 3 through 8 of your guide that will be featured on your exam. When you’re ready for your license, you’ll complete a driving exam and pay a $7.50 intermediate license fee. Your driver’s permit will be valid for one year, and you’ll be required to hold it for at least six months while you complete 40 hours of supervised driving. If you’re under 16, you can get your permit by passing the written, road signs, and basic vision tests, paying the $3.50 permit fee, and providing proof of identity, residence, and social security number, as well as having a parent or guardian present to provide parental consent. Road Sign Test The road sign test will check your ability to recognize and understand traffic signs. To pass your official test, you’ll need to correctly answer a minimum of 20 of the questions, so there’s not a lot of room for error. If both your natural and corrected acuity vision are worse than 20/160, or your peripheral combined is worse than 70 degrees, you cannot take the driving test and cannot have a driver license. The full knowledge exam will be made up of 25 multiple-choice questions pulled from the breadth of the 2024 Missouri Driver’s Guide.
